It's a habit I picked up from the old guy who taught me to play. Used to blow smoke in my guitar every time I changed the strings, too. I always try my hardest to relish the bittersweet first time a "keeper" guitar is knocked down or dropped, because it means that now I don't have to care as much about protecting it from life happening.Īs an aside, loved this tidbit: "I rubbed weed ash on the exposed wood to make the wound seem not as fresh." I've used weed ash on tons of different projects as a weathering agent or part of a paint mix. You didn't take a belt sander to the shoulders or smack it around with a bag of rusty nails, so I wouldn't consider this a war crime or anything.
I dislike relics but as others have said, this looks tastefully done.
